Description of the area:
Lignano encloses three localities. Lignano Sabbiadoro, a city of thousands of restaurants, outdoor bars and long shopping tours. Lignano Pineta, caressed by the shade of the gardens and designed by elegant avenues. And Lignano Riviera, the most relaxing area, surrounded by a rich vegetation that is expressed with the rustle of maritime pines.
Lignano is part of the northernmost lagoon system of the entire Mediterranean, which includes two Regional Natural Reserves open to the public: that of the mouth of the Stella River, which can be visited by boat and the Canal Novo Valley. Both of great naturalistic value thanks to the exceptional presence of avifauna, numerous species of sedentary and migratory birds populate this environment, rich in spontaneous vegetation of marshes, lemons and rushes, where they find the ideal environment for nesting or spending the winter during migrations.
Inside the Lagoon, there are the characteristic “Casoni”, the fishermen’s houses, built to find shelter during fishing trips. Their structure is formed by bundles of lake canes properly assembled, composed of a single room with a rectangular or circular plan with a fireplace in the center. Some “casoni”, privately owned, have been equipped to accommodate small groups to spend a day with the charm of the past, eating a typical fish dish and tasting a good glass of local wine.
The Island of Martignano, known as the “island of shells”, rises in front of the area of Punta Faro, from which it is a few hundred meters. Rich in flora and fauna, retains an adventurous atmosphere and is the ideal place for lovers of unspoilt nature. Its coast towards the open sea is composed of sand even more golden than that of Lignano. And then there is the Pineta, the green lung of Lignano, where nature is the protagonist and recharges you with energy during every day of your holiday. Here nature breathes it, you feel it and you see it in everything that surrounds you: in the cycle paths that cross the whole resort, in all the outdoor sports that you can practice, in the pleasant shade that give you the foliage of the trees.
